Jaqueline M. Cortez

Jaqueline Mirielle Cortez joined NASA in 1998 as a high school student employee working in NASAâ??s Human Resources Office. Since then, she has been employed with MEI Technologies, Inc. working her way from the ground up. First as a secretary for NASAâ??s Space Life Sciences Directorate then quickly promoted to Contract Specialist and now again to her current position as a Business Specialist and Education and Outreach Coordinator.

Jaqueline holds her duel Bachelors in both Business Management and Marketing from the University of Houston-Clear Lake after graduating in 2004 and is currently pursuing her advanced degree in Cultural Studies. During her education Jaqueline received the honor of being accepted into the leadership honor society, Omicron Delta Kappa, and was heavily involved in the Universities extra-curricular activities by being both Vice-President and President of an organization called HACE (Hispanics Advancing Culture and Education) during a complete two-year term.

Jaqueline's most recent endeavor has been leading the development of a new youth education project entitled, â??21st Century Explorer/Explorador del Siglo 21â??, which targets the Hispanic community, her bilingual skills have been a tremendous asset in the advancement of this project whose primary goal is in motivation young students to achieve a higher knowledge and a greater interest in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Her other responsibilities include but are not limited to tracking costs, scheduling events and coordinating technical aspects of the Education and Outreach program in addition to being the lead of an Education team for Wyle Laboratories, Inc.
