Natalya Dmitriyevna Kuleshova

Date and place of birth:

14th March 1956, Novy Gorodok settlement in Odintsovo region of Moscow province, RSFSR (Russia).

Nationality:

Russian.

Education:

1972 – completed secondary school № 187 in Leninsk (Baykonur cosmodrome), Kzyl-Orda province of Kazakh SSR.

1978 – completed course at Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI), speciality “Aircraft control systems”, engineer-electrical technician.

1984-1985 – post-graduate studies at Moscow Institute of Engineers of Geodesy, Aerial Photography and Cartography (MIEGA&C) in the extramural department.

Activities before joining the cosmonaut unit:

Sept. 1972-Feb. 1978 student at MAI.

From 21st August 1978 – engineer of 30th section, and from 1st July until enrolment in the cosmonaut unit – engineer of 151st section of NPO “Energiya”

Service in the cosmonaut unit:

30th July 1980 – by decision of the State Inter-Departmental Commission (SIDC), was selected to enter the cosmonaut unit of NPO “Energiya”.

From 26th Sept. 1980 - cosmonaut-tester of 110th section of NPO “Energiya”.

From 1st March 1982 – cosmonaut-tester of 291st section of NPO “Energiya”.

23rd July 1992 – discharged from the cosmonaut unit on retirement on pension and having served her term.

Space training:

Dec. 1979-June 1980 underwent technical training at NPO “Energiya”

Mar.-Dec. 1981 – underwent general space training in the CTC and trained as cosmonaut-researcher in the back-up crew for spacecraft “Soyuz T-7” together with V. Vasyutin and V. Savinykh, but was soon replaced on health grounds by I. Pronina.

1987 – trained in a group of cosmonauts for flights to the “Mir” orbital complex in the visiting expeditions programme.

Activities after leaving the cosmonaut unit:

From 23rd July 1992 – with RSC “Energiya”, since 2001 as leading engineer.

Social and political activities:

Member of CPSU from May 1984.  Is currently Executive Director of the Association of Space Explorers (ASE).

Hobbies:

Skiing, tennis.

Family:

Father – Kuleshov, Dmitri Alekseyevich, born 1928, in military service, served a long time at Baykonur, Lieutenant-Colonel (retd.).

Mother – Kuleshova (Soldatenkova), Maria Mikhaylovna, born 1931, teacher, on pension.

Brother –Kuleshov, Vadim Dmitriyevich, born 1962, mechanical engineer.

Son – Busovtsev, Aleksey Vladimirovich, born 1986, student at Moscow State Service University (Russian State University of Tourism and Service).

Son – Busovtsev, Andrey Vladimirovich, born 1989, student at Moscow State Linguistics University.
